Cathy Hovde, CIH, CSP

Principal

Cathy Hovde is a seasoned Health and Safety Leader with over 20 years of experience, including roles at Amazon, Caterpillar, and 3M. Cathy is passionate about ensuring that all employees return home safely and lead long, healthy lives with their families. Known for her transformational leadership and ability to set a clear vision and strategy for success, she effectively balances technical skills with the ability to bring together diverse disciplines to solve problems.

Cathy is a Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) and Certified Safety Professional (CSP). She excels in both quantitative and qualitative exposure assessments. Her global experience includes building and managing teams in numerous countries, improving safety culture, and successfully leading with and without authority by building relationships across disciplines and hierarchies.

Cathy's academic background includes a Master of Science in Environmental Health from the University of Minnesota and a Bachelor of Arts in Biology and Religion from St. Olaf College. She has received several prestigious awards, including the American Industrial Hygiene Association (AIHA) Kusnetz Award, American Conference of Governmental Industrial Hygienists (ACGIH) Bloomfield Award, and the National Safety Council Rising Star Award.

In addition to her professional work, Cathy is an active volunteer leader, serving on the Board of Directors for the ACGIH and as an advisory board member for the University of Minnesota's School of Public Health Occupational Hygiene Department. She presents at national and international conferences and is committed to sharing her knowledge through guest lectures and presentations.

Cheryl DuBois, CIH

Principal

Cheryl DuBois, CIH, is a highly accomplished and experienced Industrial Hygiene Specialist with a demonstrated history of leadership and expertise in occupational health and safety. She possesses a Master of Science in Environmental and Occupational Health/Industrial Hygiene from the University of Minnesota—Twin Cities, a Master of Arts in Exercise Physiology from the University of Texas—Austin, and a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology from Texas Christian University. She has held key roles at 3M, including leading global ventilation and PPE programs, and providing IH support to manufacturing facilities across the US and internationally, including in Asia. Cheryl has also served as an industrial hygienist at 3M's Personal Safety Division and Federal Cartridge Co, demonstrating a broad range of experience in both corporate and manufacturing environments.

A Certified Industrial Hygienist, Cheryl has made significant contributions to program development, implementation, and auditing, and has extensive experience as a safety engineer. She is a recognized subject matter expert in ventilation management, respiratory protection, and personal protective equipment. 

Her professional affiliations include serving as Chair of the AIHA Protective Clothing & Equipment Committee and a member of the Hazard Prevention & Engineering Controls Committee. Her publications include co-authorship of papers in the Journal of Occupational and Environmental Hygiene, describing her group's work during the pandemic. Her career includes significant contributions to 3M's EHS programs, including the development and leadership of 2-day ventilation management courses, and participation in the team that developed internal guidance for COVID-19 workplace safety.
