Cathy Hovde, CIH, CSP
Principal
Cathy Hovde is a seasoned Health and Safety Leader with over 20 years of experience, including roles at Amazon, Caterpillar, and 3M. Cathy is passionate about ensuring that all employees return home safely and lead long, healthy lives with their families. Known for her transformational leadership and ability to set a clear vision and strategy for success, she effectively balances technical skills with the ability to bring together diverse disciplines to solve problems.
Cathy is a Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) and Certified Safety Professional (CSP). She excels in both quantitative and qualitative exposure assessments. Her global experience includes building and managing teams in numerous countries, improving safety culture, and successfully leading with and without authority by building relationships across disciplines and hierarchies.
Cathy's academic background includes a Master of Science in Environmental Health from the University of Minnesota and a Bachelor of Arts in Biology and Religion from St. Olaf College. She has received several prestigious awards, including the American Industrial Hygiene Association (AIHA) Kusnetz Award, American Conference of Governmental Industrial Hygienists (ACGIH) Bloomfield Award, and the National Safety Council Rising Star Award.
In addition to her professional work, Cathy is an active volunteer leader, serving on the Board of Directors for the ACGIH and as an advisory board member for the University of Minnesota's School of Public Health Occupational Hygiene Department. She presents at national and international conferences and is committed to sharing her knowledge through guest lectures and presentations.
